Welllll. This is a pretty ridiculous video but I have to agree with the sentiment.

Straight Edge is a choice, but it’s a serious choice you have to consider *when you make it*. It’s not something that you claim for three months and then give up on again.

If you don’t fully believe in a label then don’t label yourself as such? It’s not a very difficult concept. What a bloody lie to be telling people.

People who have claimed edge at some point to “see how long this lasts” are pretty inconsiderate to themselves, to be honest. And to people who are seriously ‘true til death’. It’s people who don’t want to be in it 100% that act like weirdos and give straight edgers a bad name.

On the other hand, there are hardliners that also act like weirdos [like in this video] who also give straight edge a bad name.

Hardline =/= Straight Edge

just as much as

Don’t want to drink or do drugs =/= Straight Edge

But apparently people don’t get that.

I’ve been poison free for almost ten years now, someone recently asked me if I won’t hate my tattoos if I ever break edge, to be honest I don’t think I ever will because day after day after day do I become more sure of my choice. And hey, after that other video it appears that there is good tattoo cover-up nowadays ;D

All joking aside: I am hurt though. Not so much as to yell “traitor” in someone’s face or pour their drink down the drain or what have you. However, it’s the thought that counts.
